Like so many successful companies, Salamander Designs stemmed from a
personal need. Back in 1990, a young designer began searching for
furniture to house his home entertainment components. Nothing in the
marketplace satisfied him, so he set out to solve the problem for
himself.

Their furniture begins with a love of modern design - the simple,
refined lines and functional forms the century's most important
designers have embraced. It reflects stringent principles; every product
has timeless looks and incorporates unstinting quality. Beyond this,
their products are designed for a fast-moving electronic age, an era in
which furniture must accommodate the changing requirements of its
owners.
Salamander meets your requirements with elegant, modular components
that fit together in a variety of ways. Combined, these constitute
interactive furniture systems, because you select the specific
foundation elements and accessories that precisely meet your needs. As
requirements change, re-tailor by adding pieces or simply reconfiguring
those on hand.

They offer two comprehensive furniture systems. The original series,
the Archetype System, employs a simple yet highly versatile design. It
uses threaded-steel support posts and matching fasteners to hold shelves
securely while providing infinite vertical adjustability.
Archetype's most important concepts, modularity and modernity among
them, also characterize our second furniture line. It's called Synergy
System, and it features elegant, extruded-aluminum corner columns and
hardwood shelves as well as optional sides, backs and doors.

Designs furniture met with acclaim after its introduction and continues
to win praise from magazines ranging from Cigar Aficionado to Stereo
Review. Writing about the Archetype System in Stereophile, Wes Philips
called its possibilities staggering...If you drop in on me, don't be
surprised to find I've furnished my house entirely with the stuff,"
he said. (Stereophile, incidentally, included Archetype on its elite
list of "Recommended Components" in 1997.)
As for Synergy System, Rob Sabin, in Home Theater magazine, praised
it for "incredible design flexibility in a high-quality and
easy-to-assemble package...If you've got special requirements or simply
want something that's different and well-engineered, this is furniture
that's hard to beat," he affirmed. Industry professionals agree. At
the 1998 Consumer Electronics Show, a panel of judges singled out
Synergy System for an Innovations Award based on design and engineering
excellence.
